Edward H. Dunworth, 87, of Sun City, went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2007. He was born September 7, 1920, in DuBois, Pennsylvania to John W. and Susan Brown Dunworth. Ed graduated from DuBois High School. Upon graduation, he moved to North Tonawanda, New York where he worked for the Columbus-McKinnon Chain and Hoist Company. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Pacific Theater 1942-1945 serving mainly in the Philippines. After the war, he returned to marry his sweetheart, Mary Beatrice Shovestull, on October 27, 1945. In 1964, the family relocated to Phoenix, after Ed had worked for Sylvania Electric. He then went to work for Goodyear Aerospace and retired a supervisor in March 1982. An avid traveler, he visited many places in the Pacific and all around the U.S. Ed was an active member and served as a deacon at North Phoenix Baptist Church for over 25 years. He and Bea moved to Sun City in 1995, and eventually joined the family of faith at Bellevue Heights Baptist Church. Throughout his life, Ed served the Lord and enjoyed telling others about his church and his Christian faith. He was a member of the Pioneer Club Goodyear Aerospace retirees and was a life-member of American Legion Post #264. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Bea, his daughter Mary Jane and son-in-law, Donald Forsythe, his two grandsons and their wives, John and Annette Forsythe and Kevin and Kristin Forsythe, three great-granddaughters, Abigail, Molly and Hannah, and one great-grandson, Benjamin. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Bellevue Heights Baptist Church, 9440 W. Hutton Dr., Sun City, AZ. Visitation will be at 3:00 pm with the service following at 4:00 pm. Ed will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Odyssey Healthcare, 8977 W. Athens St., Peoria, AZ 85382.
