Edith Mae Nussbaum

Edith “Edie” Mae Nussbaum passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2018, with family by her side. She was born to Elsie and Walter Fields on September 3rd, 1934, as the fifth of six children. She grew up in Wisconsin, and despite multiple moves, graduated with honors from Oshkosh High. She married Leon Joseph Nussbaum in April,1958, in Appleton, WI, where they raised their five children. Edie moved to Sun City, AZ, in 1994, where she worked as a bookkeeper before enjoying an active retirement. Edie enjoyed traveling, card club, book club, mahjong, watching sports, and volunteering at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Edie inspired others with her positive attitude and spunky spirit. She faced challenges, head on, had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved to tackle her own home improvements. She will be missed by many, many people. Edie is survived by her children; Pam (Geoff) Athens, Debbie (Jeff Hunter) Wisnet-Hunter, Brian (Paula) Nussbaum, Gary (Mary) Nussbaum, Dale (Rene) Nussbaum; grandchildren; Andrew Athens, Sara Athens, Stephanie Wisnet,, Abigail (Brandon) Armwood, Amanda Nussbaum, Zachary Nussbaum, Elizabeth Nussbaum, Anna Nussbaum, Paul Nussbaum, Joseph Nussbaum, Benjamin Nussbaum, and Jack Nussbaum; great-grandson, Daniel Nussbaum. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon. Services will be held at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center at 11:30 am on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
