Harold Hoprich, M.D., 87, Sun City, Arizona died April 9, 2008. Dr. Hoprich was born October 9, 1920 in Salem, Ohio, a son of the late Frank and Rose Adams Hoprich. Harold, "Hoppy" was a practicing physician in Salem, Ohio, from 1948 until retirement in 1988. He was a graduate of Salem High School, Capital University, and a 1945 graduate of the Ohio State University Medical School. He interned at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Following internship "Hoppy" served in the U.S. Army and Air Force 1947-1948 at Scott A.F.B., Illinois, returning to Salem in 1948 to enter private family practice and join the staff of Salem Community Hospital. In addition to his practice, he served as a deputy coroner for Columbriana County. Dr. Hoprich received the 50 year awards from the State of Ohio Medical Board, the Ohio State University College of Medicine, and the Columbriana County medical Society. He was a life member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association, Ohio State Medical Society, Ohio State Academy of Family Practice, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. He was also a member of the Salem Golf Club, Salem Kiwanis, Salem Chamber of Commerce, B.P.o.E., Salem Saxon Club, Branch 19, the Salem Saxon Retirees, a life member of the American Legion and the Salem Historical Society. He was a Legacy Leader in the Sun Health Foundation and a member of the former Retiree Sun City Physicians Club. A talented and gifted musician, artist, and wood-worker, "Hoppy" is a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Salem, Ohio, where he was the church organist and Sunday School pianist from 1934-1938. In high school he played the saxophone, clarinet, and bassoon in the band and orchestra. His art work was displayed at the local YMCA and Spread Eagle Tavern in Hanoverton, OH. He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Neal Hoprich and a brother, Lowell E. Hoprich. Survivors include his wife Mary Helen Bruderly Daniels Hoprich whom he married January 2, 1988; a sister Mary Louise Carl Weidenmier of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law Vivian Stowe Hoprich, Salisbury, MD; three step-daughters, Kay Dean Stout, Susan Don Pratte, Rebecca Mike Brannon; many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The human remains have been donated to the Sun Health Research Institute, Sun City, Arizona, and a memorial service will be held April 16, 2008 at 1:00 P.M., at the Menke Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, Arizona with Hospice of the Valley Chaplain David Kaminski officiating.
