Donald Leroy Greene of Peoria AZ passed away on April 2, 2016 at the age of 73. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Donald Matthew Greene and the late Elsie (Beebe) Greene and was raised in South Bend, Indiana. Don joined the United States Air Force in 1960 and served 24 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He served as a radar instructor at the United States Air Force Academy in Denver, Colorado. In addition to two tours of duty in Vietnam, he also served in Okinawa and several state side locations. During his childhood, Don was an avid ball player. During his years of military service, he was recognized worldwide as a racquetball player. He also played fast pitch softball and was a Sports Official of all sports at Luke Air Force Base. His love of sports, including golf and bowling, continued after retirement. After returning from the military, Don was employed with the United States Postal Service until 1994. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, The American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Glendale Moose Lodge where he was administrator for 14 years and received his Pilgrim degree for his years of service and dedication to the Moose Organization. Don is survived by his wife, Denise, sons Brian of Peoria, AZ and Barry of El Paso, TX, daughter Barbara (Ace) Mallott of St Joseph, MO and was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Ann. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty (Bill) Niedbalski of South Bend, IN, Jean Chrzanowski of Columbia City, IN, 3 step-brothers, David (Mary) Barrett, Tony Barrett and Richard (Patti) Barrett, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on April 11, 2016 at 11:00 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center with full military honors to follow at 1:00 pm at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Because of his love for children, memorial donations can be made in Don's name to St Jude Children's Hospital or Moose International.
