Donald Louis Shields, (Don) a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in Peoria, Arizona at the age of 82. He was a resident of Surprise, Arizona and a native of Washington C.H. Ohio. He retired in 2001 after serving 18 years as a Technician at Gould Foil in Chandler, Arizona. Don enjoyed traveling, golf, and all sports, especially with his children and grandchildren but he stunk at Bingo. He was the kindest person anyone ever met. Don loved to read Western novels.
Visitation and memorial service will be at Menke Chapel in Sun City, Arizona on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 4:30 pm. Burial service will be at Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years Goldie Louise Shields; sons Tom and wife Kris Shields of Washington C.H., Ohio, Donald and wife Jodie Shields of Sun City, Arizona, Rick Sowers, Ron and wife Garilyn Sowers of Scottsdale, Arizona, Deborah Sass of Washington C.H., Ohio; grandchildren Morgan and husband Dana Wood and Stefan and wife Tisa Shields of Washington C.H., Ohio, Austin Sowers of Scottsdale, Arizona, Madison Sowers of Paris, France, Donnie and wife Jordan Shields, Dalton Shields, Dax Shields, and Lana Shields of Sun City, Arizona, Trinity Sowers of Gilbert, Arizona, Cameron Priest of Dallas Texas, Jason and Crystie Sowers of Deltona, Florida, J.R. and Mindi Sowers of Apopka, Florida, Jacob Marino of St. Louis, Missouri; Jamie and wife Katie Sass of Lavonia, Michigan, special friend Jim Sass of Livonia, Michigan, sister Doris Aills of Palm Coast, Florida, brother Ron Conley of Greenfield, Ohio, sister Donna Cassell of Jeffersonville, Ohio, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Proceeded in death by his father Heber and Mother Dorothy Shields, and brother Robert of Vergas, Minnesota and sister Elaine Huffman of Washington C.H. Ohio, and son Randy Sowers of Deland, Florida.
Pallbearers will be Tom Shields, Don Shields, Donnie Shields II., Dalton Shields, Dax Shields, Rick Sowers, Ron Sowers and Austin Sowers. Please share sympathies, condolences and memories with the family, he was deeply loved and will be fondly remembered.
