Dolores Teresa Witherspoon

Dolores Teresa Witherspoon, 82, passed away on July 12, 2024. She was born in Easton, PA, to Sophie and Robert G. Becker, who resided in Holland Township, NJ, and had long ago predeceased her. She attended Holland Township Elementary School, Frenchtown High School, and graduated from Delaware Valley High School in 1960. She was a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduation she was hired by Gebhardt & Kiefer, attorneys, in Clinton, NJ. After 13 Mondays of rain, in November 1973, she followed her sister, Mary, to Phoenix, where she met and married her late husband, Noble Witherspoon, on October 3, 1975. She worked one year for architects Charles Luckman & Assocs., then attorneys Shimmel, Hill, Bishop & Gruender, and retired from Hammond & Tobler in 2001. She and her husband then retired to Sun City. Her interests included various ministries at Catholic Churches she attended, especially Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Milwaukee Brewers Spring Training; bowling, softball, dirt biking, sailing, camping, horseback riding (including the ride to Wickenburg for their Western Days celebration), completion of a marathon on the Big Island of Hawaii in 2003, Bay to Breakers Run in California in 2015, and traveling throughout the U.S., portions of Europe and India. At her current parish of St. Charles Borromeo, she served as a lector. Her siblings, Robert, Alan and Christopher Becker, and Mary Runge, have predeceased her. 

 A Viewing will be Aug. 7, 2024, from 3-5 PM at Menke Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited on Aug. 8, 2024, at 9:30 AM and Mass will be at 10 AM located at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Peoria. Committal service will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008 at 12 PM.
