Dola Henning

Dola passed away quietly on January 21, 2013 after a lengthy illness. She was born Dola Jean Petry in Seattle, Washington June 22, 1931. After graduation from Kent High School she attended Business College and spent time as a secretary in Seattle before obtaining a highly classified position with the U.S. military in Hawaii. Upon returning from Hawaii, she established her life in southern California where she met and married Karl Henning of Beverly Hills. She was an executive secretary for Hughes Aircraft before entering the Travel Agency business. She worked for Beverly Hills Travel for many years before opening her own Sunburst Travel which eventually merged with the Travel Store. Dola and Karl lived in Northridge, California for twenty years and retired to Peoria, Arizona in 1993, where they were active members of the Westbrook Village community. Dola was preceded in death by her husband, Karl, and is survived by her daughter Karol Reedy of California, her son Paul Henning of California, grand children: Julia Reedy, Ken Reedy, and sisters Sharon Fletcher of Peoria, Arizona and Diane Baker of Kent, Washington. Dola was a truly unique individual who was loved by all and will be sorely missed. Memorial Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center located at 12420 N 103rd Ave, Sun City, AZ. Celebration of Life will follow at a private home.
