Dirl Dennis

Dirl R. Dennis was born October 6, 1935 to John H. and Vivian Dennis. In 1939 the family moved to Glendale, Arizona where he resided until his death on June 15, 2017. Dirl attended Glendale schools and graduated from Glendale High School in 1953. He very proudly served in the U.S. Army for four years and on his return, he joined the Glendale Fire Dept., where he worked until his retirement in 1983. In 1960 he married Martha (Peck) Dennis and they had 57 wonderful years together. After his retirement they spent many cool summers in a family cabin in Montana. Dirl is survived by his wife Martha, daughters Denise (Clint) Carlin, Jerome, ID and Dianna (Mike) Denton in Glendale, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother John, sisters Velma and Marion and great granddaughter Shayna Carlin. Memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday, June 30, 2017 at First Southern Baptist Church, 10250 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, AZ. Interment will be at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 9:00 a.m., July 3, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the 100 Club of Arizona which supports families of fallen police officers and firefighters.
