Desiree “Desi” Lynn Wanninger, 31, of Surprise, Arizona, and formerly of Audubon, Iowa, passed away after a hard-fought, 17 month battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Scottsdale Honor Health Hospital in Scottsdale. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 13 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church located at 6180 W. Utopia Rd. Glendale, Arizona 85308. We ask that everyone wear purple in honor of Desi. Desi was born on June 13, 1984 in Audubon, Iowa, as the eldest daughter of four to Rick and Lana (Weber) Wanninger. She was raised in Peoria, Arizona and graduated at Sunrise Mountain High School in 2002, then continued her education at Glendale Community College. During her time at Sunrise Mountain High School, she enjoyed singing in the chorus and competing on the swim team. She worked at Verizon Wireless as sales consultant, where she was considered a team player and leader to many associates. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, caring for her dog Mocha, taking family vacations to Rocky Point and relaxing at the family cabin in the White Mountains. Desi is survived by her parents Rick and Lana (Weber) Wanninger; three sisters, Nichole (Wanninger) Blackman, Stacey Wanninger and Heather Wanninger; a brother-in-law, Wade Blackman and niece Maci; grandparents Marlene Wanninger, Dean Weber; aunts and uncles, Dennis and Kathy Weber, Keith Kysor, Jim and Lori (Weber) Ingeman, Johan and Dianne (Weber) Hausfelder, Lynn and Jody (Wanninger) Nelson, Kurt and Angie Wanninger, Todd and Jalynn Wanninger and 25 cousins. Preceding her in death are her Grandparents Charlotte Weber, Walt Wanninger and her aunt Denise (Weber) Kysor. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Desiree for a memorial fund.
