Derrill Jowers

Derrill "Sonny" Jowers, 74 passed away Saturday, May 4th at home in Sun City, Arizona after an extended illness. He was born in DeLand, Florida September 17, 1938 to the late Ray and Alice (Kruser) Jowers. He graduated from Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida in 1957. He retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company in 1989. He and his wife Jean moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1991. Sonny enjoyed working with computers and anything related to electronics. He had a special gift in this area. While living in Florida he was an avid fisherman. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 32 years, Martha "Jean", four children, many grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves behind one twin sister and three brothers. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church at 9849 N. 105th Ave. in Sun City. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date in Daytona Beach, Florida. Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sun City in memory of Derrill "Sonny" Jowers.
