Our loving father, grandfather, son and brother David Anthony Born, 72, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, June 4th 2016. He shared the last 47 years with his loving wife Nelda, who preceded him in death just this past April. He was born in Ogden, Utah on May 10, 1944 to Frank Anthony Born and Josephine Blanche Hill. Dave attended Ben Lomond high school and went on to complete his academics in the U.S. Army, where he later received an honorable discharge after a short military career. He met the love of his life Nelda in 1968; they married in 1971 and became a blended family. Dave and Nelda opened Nu-Site Optical in 1977 in Ogden, Utah, and they ran it together for over 20 years. They shared in almost every aspect of their lives together, and enjoyed bowling, dancing, gambling, going on cruises, hosting “happy hour” for many friends, and entertaining their large family with heartfelt laughter. Upon retirement, together they relocated to Sun City, Arizona where they lived out the rest of their days. Their home was always the centerpiece of the familial unit, and Dave was the source of constant jokes. His good humor is what he is well-known and loved for; it will be sorely missed by all who came to know him. Survived by Mother Josephine Roten; son Blake Born (Teresa) and daughters, Lorie Batton (Johnny), Shellie Parker (Tim), and Karma Area; sister Sharon Wright (Roy); 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and countless friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 10th at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ.
