Dale R. Johnson of Sun City, Arizona passed away peacefully at his home on. March 9, 2014. He was born October 2, 1930 in Duluth, MN to parents of Swedish ancestry, Clarence and Hildur Johnson. Dale lived most of his life in Duluth until 1981 when he and his family moved to the Phoenix area. In Duluth he worked his teenage years at his uncles' bakeries as well as being a good student and graduating from Denfeld High school and attending two years at Univ. MN, Duluth. In 1950, Dale took a job as a draftsman for Zalk Joseph, a steel construction firm, and worked his way up to head of that department. In 1981, the steel business took a downturn and Dale had to find another job which he did when he moved to Phoenix and found similar work at Marathon. About 2 years later Dale decided to change careers and became a successful real estate agent. At his death, he was still employed as a broker for Ken Meade Realty in Sun City. Dale was a committed Christian and family man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Hildur Johnson and his first wife Lorraine. Dale is survived by his wife, Ruth Bland; his two children, Brian Johnson (Brandi) and Kristen Johnson, both of the Phoenix area; grandchildren Amber Johnson and Katrina Alfaro (David); and great grandchildren David and Jordon Alfaro and Caidon and Kenna Williams. Dale is also survived by his brothers Richard (Sandy) of CA and David (Diane) of MN. There will be a viewing at Grace Bible Church in Sun City on Saturday, March 15 from 9 to 10 am. The Memorial service is scheduled at the Church at 10 am followed by a reception at the church. Interment will be in Duluth, MN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Bible Church or the American Cancer Society.
