Clifford Marshall Cowles Jr., 95 of Peoria AZ, formerly of Wallingford CT died Tuesday October 24, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Clifford was born in New Haven, CT August 30, 1928, the son of late Clifford and Alice Cowles Sr.
Clifford attended Choate Prep School and then went to Yale University graduating with a degree in economics. He served in the Navy as a communications specialist and was later promoted to Lieutenant Commander during the Korean War. On June 20, 1950, Clifford married Harriet Lane also from Wallingford, CT and had four children.
Clifford was employed by International Silver Company and was an active member of the Wallingford Taxpayers Association until moving to Decatur, Illinois where he was employed by Revere Ware Copper & Brass Company. He retired to Sun City, AZ in 1988 where he resided for 33 years. His retirement years were spent traveling the country and abroad participating in several theater and musical groups which allowed him to play his beloved piano.
Clifford is survived by his four children Patricia Edwards (Glen), Barbara O’Neal (Ed), Jeffery Cowles, and Debra Wright, his 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and his sister, Shirley Cowles McChesney of Sun Lakes, AZ, and her family of 20.
