Cleone Johnson

Cleone Mary Johnson, 98 Mrs. Cleone Mary Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully on September 13, 2018. Cleone was born January 18, 1920 in New Era Pennsylvania a daughter of Rodney and Bernice Young Wells. She married Kenneth Johnson of New Era on June 15th 1946. He predeceased her on March 16, 2002 after 56 years of marriage. During World War 2 Cleone was employed by Norden making bomb sights and Schweizer Aircraft manufacturing gliders. She was also employed by Paper Magic in Troy, Pa. for several years. Cleone was a dedicated wife and mother, a wonderful cook (known for her wonderful pies), and loved all the many dogs they had during her life. She was a member of the Windfall Methodist church and taught Sunday school for many years. Surviving are her two daughters, Barbara Offenbacher (Steve), Shirley Fennell (Patrick), one son, Kenneth (Rick) Johnson (Gaye), 4 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She was the last surviving sibling of eight children, She was predeceased by five brothers: Rodney Wells, Samuel Wells, Robert Wells, Harold Wells, and David Wells; and two sisters: Doris Jane Newton, and Mabel Morrow. We want to thank the Meridian group home and Hospice of the Valley for the wonderfuld care she received during her illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., in Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. They made Mom’s last chapter in her life a more comfortable one.
