Claire Stokes

Claire M. Stokes, 86 passed away from this earth on Saturday, July 25, 2015. She was born June 15, 1929 and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. Claire moved to Arizona over 40 years ago. She was very involved with the Sun City/Phoenix chapter of WWII POW Veterans for many years. She will be buried in Arlington with the love of her life, her late husband, Edward V. Stokes, a WWII POW Veteran. Claire is survived by her youngest sister, Kathryn “Katie” Swanwick from PA, nieces Sherry Rose Callahan, Pamela Wertz and Sally Ann Weger, as well as many other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, her dear friend Rosalie Maxwell and many other wonderful friends including the POWs and her “bakery buddies”. Claire was a very special person and treasured by many! We have all been told over the years and often by anyone who had the opportunity to meet her that “She was one in a million!” At Claire’s request no services will be held. She will be greatly missed by all!
