Charles Crawford, 70, of Surprise, AZ died Oct. 17, 2008. He was born June 3, 1938, the son of the late Emerson Crawford and Emmadele Perrine Crawford. He attended Towsand High School. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years and retired from New Departure Hyatt in 1999 after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Arizona and Sts Peter & Paul Parish in Sandusky, OH. He was a 3rd degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Arizona and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with his family. He was a great sports fan. His wife of 50 years, the former Marie Centorbi, whom he married June 21, 1958; daughters Amy Crawford of Tucson, AZ and Tricia Lee Madden of Surprise, AZ; sons Rodney Crawford of Sandusky, OH, Jason Tracy Crawford of Oakland, NJ, Barry Crawford of Henderson, TN; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sisters Judy Dave Davis of Sandusky, Janet Duane Thompson of Youngtown, OH, Joyce Jim Risk of Sandusky, OH, Jackie Gary Shade of Youngtown, OH and many nieces and nephews survive him. Preceding him in death are his parents Emerson & Emmadele; paternal grandparents George & Ida Crawford; maternal grandparents Charles & Alice Perrine and grandson Jason Brant. Family and friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 17111 W. Bell Rd., Surprise, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. A memorial service will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky, OH at a later date. Charles was a loving husband and father to the end.
