Charles (Chuck) Hobbs

Charles Clifford (Chuck) Hobbs died December 25, 2015 in Sun City, AZ he was 78. Born July 30, 1937 in Phoenix to Edna June & Clifford Hobbs, Chuck attended Glendale grammar and high schools graduating in 1955. He attended Chapman College in California briefly before enlisting in the Navy. Chuck served on the Glendale Police Department from 1961-1969 advancing to sergeant. He resigned to join the U.S. Border Patrol in Yuma in 1969, then the U.S. Drug Enforcement Association in 1976. Chuck transferred to Salt Lake City with the D.E.A. in 1980 and served there until moving to the Phoenix office where he retired in 1995. Chuck enjoyed teaching law enforcement classes at Glendale Community College until his health no longer allowed him to do so. A longtime member of the B.P.O Elks Club, he was also always especially proud of his association with the Masonic Lodge. A lifelong avid low-handicap golfer, Chuck was an active member of many golf and country clubs throughout his adult life, from his first membership at the Wigwam in Litchfield Park to the latest at Palmbrook Country Club in Sun City. Chuck is survived by his oldest son Charles Wilson (Leanna) and family (Cameron, Candice and Christian); and brother Larry (Leta). Memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 6th at 2:00 pm at the Palmbrook Country Club, 9350 W. Greenway Rd. in Sun City.
