Catherine Brubaker

Cathrine Brubaker nee Bailey was born March 31, 1919 in Rock Island, Illinois. She had a passion for music and poetry and a strong desire to further her education despite the poverty of her family. She worked as a secretary to accomplish her dream, going to the University of Dubuque in Iowa where she met her husband of 64 years, Dale Brubaker. Katie considered herself a career homemaker, managing the home and nurturing a family of five children. She also worked as a school secretary in the Scottsdale School District and later in the Oregon, Illinois School District. In later years, she developed an interest in quilting, making over 30 quilts for five children, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She has been active in the quilting club at Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City where she was an active member. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 16000 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. Menke Funeral & Cremation Center handled arrangements.
