Carole L. Flemm passed away peacefully at Life Stream Care Center in Youngtown AZ in the early morning hours of February 13th, 2016. Carole was the youngest of three children, born to Emil and Myrtle Flemm of Newark, NJ, on February 27, 1933. She was predeceased by her soul mate of 42 years, Thomas A. Leckie, of Kearny, NJ. In 1991, Carole and Tom moved from Kearny, NJ to AZ to pursue retirement and join her sister and brother-in-law in Sun City. She is survived by her sister, Myrtle Ratti (George, deceased), her brother Robert Flemm (Marge) and numerous nieces and nephews, three of which are *godchildren: *Karen, her son *Christian (Jennifer) and their children Kyle, Alyssa and Jaxson, Cindy (Jess) and their children Madison and Jamison, George and his son Nicholas, Diane and her son Sammy, Denise, Kim, *Michele (Scott) and their children Warren and Lindsay, and Keith (Diana) and their children Isabelle and Robert. Carole loved traveling and would often go on vacation with her sister and family. Later, she visited Europe several times with friends and co-workers, and Hawaii, San Francisco and Las Vegas many times with Tom and later, Alaska with Tom, her sister and brother-in-law. She also loved animals and always had a dog in her life. One time while growing up in Newark, she befriended a hungry squirrel in a park. Many times she sat and fed this squirrel until one day someone startled him and he accidently bit her. Carole roller skated and skied in her younger years, only giving up skiing when she snowplowed and flipped head over heels landing flat on her back laughing. Carole worked for Prudential Insurance Co. in Newark, NJ, beginning right out of West Side High School, in the typing pool. She typed upwards of 90 words per minute, error free, and was dismayed when electric type-writers came out... the carriage return was too slow! Little did she realize then that she would spend her entire 42 year career at the ‘Pru’, being promoted up the ladder, eventually becoming a level 16 supervisor. Carole was always ready to help anyone who was in need. One of her favorite charities was St. Jude’s Cancer Research which she supported on a regular basis. She was a loving sister, aunt and daughter and never hesitated giving a hug or an encouraging word to family, friends or anybody who needed one. Although we have lots of great memories, she will be missed very much. Visitation will be at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center in Sun City, Thursday, February 18th from 4pm – 7pm with a Rosary at 6:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N Del Webb Blvd., Sun City on Friday, February 19th at 10:00am with burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale.
