Glendale

Carol Lynn Plante, born on April 10, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, in Glendale, Arizona, after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was 79 years old.

Carol’s life journey began with her education at Cass Tech High School in Detroit, where she graduated in 1963. Her passion for caring led her to Wes Suburban School of Nursing in Oak Park, Illinois, where she became a Registered Nurse. It was during her time in nursing school that Carol met the love of her life, Dale Plante. They married on June 25, 1966, in Detroit, and together they embarked on a life filled with love and family.

After starting their family, Carol and Dale moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where they raised four children: Christopher (Lori Cologna) of Green Bay, WI, Craig (Corina Karren) of Calumet, MI, Brenna (Dean) Zavadsky of Shakopee, MN, and Dr. Brandon Plante of Marshall, MI. Carol was a loving mother who dedicated herself to nurturing her children's dreams and ambitions. Her commitment to family extended to her role as a grandmother to Alexii Plante, Thomas Plante, Samantha Plante, Keira Zavadsky, Kyle Zavadsky, Ian Zavadsky, Emily Plante, and Jacob Plante, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

In their retirement years, Carol and Dale enjoyed spending their winters in Sun City, Arizona and summer months in Northern Michigan.

Carol is also survived by her step-sister, Cindi Mitchell of Pinon Hills, CA, an aunt, Barbara Laurie of Laurium, MI, as well as nieces Cathy Markle Willey and Jenny Markle Herzenstiel, and grand-niece Karen. She cherished her friendships with Joyce (Roger) Kinonen of Michigan, Ichiko (Bill) Mabee of Minnesota, and Linda Voirhees, as well as Alicia Escontrias, all of whom brought warmth and joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale Plante, as well as her parents, Charles Hoffman and Cleo (Hembree) Mitchell, and her step-father, John Mitchell. Carol also mourned the loss of her sister Joyce (Hoffman) Markle and brother-in-law Dion Markle, along with her aunts Leona (Hembree) Stewart, Lorraine (Hembree) Johnson, Mary Hoffman, Minnie (Hoffman) Leppen, and her uncle Claude Hembree.

Services in celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date in Calumet, Michigan.
