Carol Arseth

Carol Lee Cramer was born on March 28th, 1933 to parents Chester and Ina Cramer of Des Moines, IA. She graduated from West High School in Minneapolis, MN in 1951, and went on to nursing school at Abbott Hospital and McAllister College where she earned her nursing RN credentials in 1954. Her love of healing and nursing the sick never diminished, never waned, and she was a practicing RN from 1954 until her failing health forced her to retire in 2014. During her remarkable 60 year career, she worked in hospitals, nursing homes, for the Alzheimer’s Association, and finally as a parish nurse both in Bovey, Minnesota and here in Sun City. She touched many lives and improved understanding of health and wellness issues as well as translating medical language into clear and concise English for the medically challenged in her congregation and her family. In 1954 she married Lawrence R. Arseth and they had three children, Robert M. in 1957, Suzann in 1960, and Colleen in 1962. Robert and his wife Denise gave her the joy of her life, her two grandson’s Joe L. in 1995 and Marco K in 1999. She loved her family, all things pink or purple, chocolate, fashion, shopping, action movies, and fine jewelry which she managed to train her husband into giving her for every special occasion. She and her husband Larry traveled to Scotland, England, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as extensively in the US and Canada with an occasional day trip to Mexico. They took the slow boat (cruise boat) around the Caribbean (twice), through the Panama Canal, to the Yukon and Alaska, and around the eastern and western Mediterranean. In short you could say they saw the world together. She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis over a decade ago and this awful disease finally took her life in the early morning hours on Saturday September 26th 2015. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the American Lung Association with the specific purpose of finding not only a cure for this disease, but the cause, and some kind of treatment plan. Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Sun City on Sunday October 4 at 11:30 a.m. A brief internment ceremony will be held immediately after the memorial service and a luncheon will follow in Swain Hall.
