Carl Alexander Patterson, affectionately known as "Ole," was born on July 4, 1940, in Big Timber, Montana. He passed away on September 2, 2024, in Sun City, Arizona, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Carl lived a life devoted to both his family and his work. A proud graduate of high school in 1958 in Big Timber, Montana, he earned certification from the American Welding Society and spent 38 fulfilling years with Montana Power before retiring in 2000. Following his retirement, he continued as a welding inspector and instructor until 2015. His passion for welding was a testament to his dedication and skill, deeply rooted in the lessons he learned from his father. Beyond his career, Carl was known for his quick wit, dry humor, and the unmistakable twinkle in his eye that endeared him to many. His ability to entertain and his generous heart created an atmosphere of warmth wherever he went.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his retirement years, loved to play golf. He was particularly known for his creativity in crafting many golf clubs. His friendly hospitable nature allowed him to make everyone feel welcome, and his kindness left a lasting impact on those who crossed his path.
Family was Carl's proudest accomplishment, and he treasured the nearly 65 years of marriage with his beloved spouse, Clarnelle Day "Irish." Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and support. Their bond served as a beacon of inspiration for their children, Carl E. (Sue), Caren (Terry) Thompson, and Jo (Arlon) McGraw, as well as Aunt Florence Vetterlein, Cousin Audra Zacherl, numerous nieces and nephews, along with his In Laws Jim Day, Jamee and Evert Wieda, Gale Figgins and countless others who had the privilege of witnessing their devotion.
Carl's legacy lives on through his loving family; grandchildren, Colter (Sarah), Candice “CJ”, Rikki, and Jacob; bonus grandchildren, Michelle and Rachel; and great-grandchildren, Ella, Carsten, Hope, and Chance.
He is reunited in Heaven with his dear daughter Jo McGraw, parents, Edwin “Pat” and Thelma Patterson, and his brother Dick Patterson, and Sister- in-Law Julie Moore. Though they have departed, their love and memories remain embedded in the hearts of everyone who had the honor of having known Carl.
