Burnell Nelson

Burnell Nelson passed away November 20, 2007. Born on April 1, 1925, in Viborg, SD, he was survived by his wife Ruth, four children Cheryl, Maureen, Kathryn, and Charles, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Burnell retired from Lockheed having enjoyed a career as an aerospace engineer largely in California. The Nelsons attended Phoenix First Assembly of God. Burnell was a veteran of WWII, where he served in the 2nd Marine Division in the Pacific Theater at Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa, and finally in occupation of Japan at Nagasaki. Viewing will be on Tues., Nov. 27, from 2-4pm, and services on Wed., November 28, at 11am, at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City. Following the services, there will be interment with full military honors at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. The family suggests donations in Burnell
