Bruce H. Garlock, recently of Sun City, Arizona, passed away quietly on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Bruce was born on September 27, 1924 in Tuckahoe, New York; and moved to Vineland, NJ in 1930 where he later met and married his wife, Frances Halliwell. They moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2003. Bruce was a U.S. Navy fighter pilot in WWII who, in 1945, lost his right arm in military action at Iwo Jima. When he returned, he started his own insurance business which he operated until retiring in 2000. He was very active in various local businesses, including managing the motor vehicle agency, civic organizations, and local politics where he served as president of the Vineland City Council. Bruce was also involved in establishing North West Swim Club; was on the board of directors at Landis Savings and Loan; and was a long time member of Rotary and other organizations.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold/Anna Garlock, wife, Frances Garlock, sister Edyth (John) Scarpa; his granddaughter, Korye Nicole Markiewicz and great-granddaughter Caitlin Korye Markiewicz.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Hank) of Phoenix; his son, Bruce Scott (Barbara) of Fairport, NY; and grandsons, Joshua (Tracey) of Apex, NC; Brad (Arielle) of Springfield, VA; Jason (Deb) of Penfield, NY; Jared (Alex) of Penfield, NY; and his granddaughter Jenna (Mike) of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Sean, Madison, and Nathan Markiewicz, Carter, Brennan, and Hadley Garlock, Kailyn Mangano and new great grandchildren due in November/January, as well as many nephews, nieces, grand-nieces and grand-¬nephews.
Arrangements have been made through Menke Funeral Home in Sun City, Arizona.
