Brian Medacco, my loving father and esteemed role model, entered lasting peace on April 13th, 2015. Brian is survived by his son, Aaron Medacco. Under his caring love and blanket of security, I (Aaron) was able to enjoy the model childhood. I wanted for nothing. His wife, and my mother, Gina Medacco, the love of his life, completed him during his service in the armed forces. In 1989, at Niagara Falls, they forged a marriage that lasted until her death August 3rd, 2013. Brian exemplified honor, having served in the US Navy for 17 years. During his military years, he and my mother would write each other for months while he travelled the world. Brian was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. He was invested in our tribe, and served both as a Tribal Council member and as Financial Controller of its casino after his honorable discharge. Brian retired early and enjoyed golfing, cycling, watching football, and playing video games. His favorite days were those he drank coffee with my mother in the morning watching news, only for them to nap instead of doing the chores of life’s drudgery. My father and I shared a relationship of competition, respect, humor and love. We would often play video games we were far too old for or watch immature TV shows that would have others shaking their heads. While I can never repay him for the head start his experience and support have given me, Brian will never be forgotten by me or the family and friends blessed to have known him. I would like to express thanks to the staff at Banner Baywood for their personal care and to the emergency team and deputies present during the El Tour de Mesa cycling race. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Carl T. Hayden VAMC/ Voluntary Dept (135) 650 E. Indian School Road – (602) 222-6419 Phoenix, Arizona 85012. A celebration will be held for Brian’s life in California by immediate family where he will reunite with Gina.
