Bobby (Bob) Gene Callender, 90, of Sun City, AZ passed away on December 29, 2016. Bob was a Navy veteran having served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Bob was born in Haynesville, LA. Bob married his late wife Mary Emma Johnson in 1945 and moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1956 where they enjoyed the clear sunny skies. Bob served as President of the Montebello Boys Baseball League, was a Democratic Precinct Committeeman and served on the Alhambra Elementary Schools Governing Board. Bob retired from Sperry Flight Systems as a Buyer in 1981. He and Mary moved to Oceanside, CA shortly after retirement, returning to Arizona in 1985. Survivors include: Daughter Bobera Veliz (Mike) of Phoenix, AZ; Sons Stephen (Randy) Callender of Phoenix, AZ; David Callender (Nancy) of Peoria, AZ. Grandchildren: Lisa Veliz of Phoenix AZ; Kristen McClaren of Wikieup, AZ; Stephanie Callender of Maricopa, AZ; Sarah VanDeusen of Fort Campbell, KY. Great Grandchildren: Cody Veliz, Joshua McClaren, Alexander and Halley Sanchez, Ava, Robby and Caleb VanDeusen. Bob will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in a private service.
