Betty Lee Spitler, nee Bennett, died Nov. 28 at the age of 91. Betty had a long history in Glendale, beginning with her grandfather, Archie Bennett, the first mayor of Glendale. She met her husband Clarence, at Glendale High School and they were married for 67 years. Betty worked in accounting for the City of Glendale, was a member of the Glendale Historical Society, enjoyed sewing, ceramics, cooking and needlework. But her first love was her family and she was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Ted) Christy and Vicki Resch, grandchildren, Scott Menke, Kim Menke, Jennifer (Gabe) Castle, Paul (Sarah) Resch and Courtney (Curtis) Pulley, and great-grandchildren Tatum, Chase and Gabriel Castle and Emily, Samantha and Alex Pulley. Services will be Sat., Dec. 6 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave, Sun City; visitation at 10 with services at 11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or your favorite charity.
