Beryl M. Cropley of Sun City, AZ passed away on August 9, 2013. Beryl moved to Sun City in 1982, after closing his Telecommunication sales business he founded in 1972. Beryl received his Electrical Engineering degree at the University of Nebraska. He volunteered for the Army during the Korean War and was a successful business man and entrepreneur throughout his life. He and his wife, Pat, were very active in Sun City and always had a concern for animals and nature. He enjoyed traveling and birding, but his passion was flying. He owned his own private plane and was a licensed pilot, obtaining his Commercial and Instrument rating. Beryl enjoyed working on his rental properties as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, and landscaper. His many accomplishments included acquisition and remodeling of the cat shelter, photographer for 4 Paws and PetSmart, providing foster care for several dogs and cats, treasurer and volunteer for Sun City 4 Paws; receiving Volunteer of the Year in 1992. Beryl is survived by his girlfriend, Jan, of Sun City; son, Bret, of Peoria, Arizona; daughter, Dawn, of Frederic, MI; and three grandchildren. Bret would like to thank the staff and caregivers with Hospice of the Valley, Good Samaritan, and Boswell Hospitals for providing care for Beryl in the final months.
