Bertha Marie Ruhnke, 90, of Sun City, Arizona died Saturday morning January 30, 2016. Known to all as Marie she was born September 29, 1925 near Troy, KS to Timothy B. and Bertha M. Molloy. She graduated from Troy High School in 1943 and married her high school sweet heart, Floyd E Ruhnke on February 5, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Phoenix, AZ. Marie spent much of her married life in Atchison, KS where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Active in many church groups and activities she was also a member of the Atchison Soroptimist, and a golf group. Marie was well known in the community for her work at Sears and at the Stanton Mortuary. After retirement to Sun City Marie continued her golf, was active with Bell Ceramics Club, Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. Marie enjoyed basketball, golf, playing cards, and board games especially with her grandchildren. Marie is survived by her husband Floyd, her daughter Barbara Ruhnke-David and husband K.N. “Jack” David, Grandsons Robert J. Ruhnke and wife Tonia of Hutchinson, KS and Christopher D. Ruhnke and wife Heidi of Warrensburg, Mo. Marie has 4 great-grandchildren: Caleb Ruhnke of Hutchinson, KS and Cailynn, Carson, and Jonathan of Warrensburg, Mo. Marie was preceded in death by a son, Major Robert A. Ruhnke, USAF and a brother James Molloy. Funeral arrangements are pending at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Mortuary, Atchison, KS.
