Barbara H. Shape passed away peacefully in her winter home in Sun City, AZ, on March 31, 2022. Barbara was born on November 16, 1934, in Sharon, PA, to Clarence Leroy (“Hook”) and Dorothy Houk. She attended Sharon schools and graduated from Sharon High School in the class of 1952. She was a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1955 from Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing, Barbara was married on December 4, 1954, to Frederick M. Shape who survives along with their children Timothy (Christina), Christopher (Shari Harrell), Linda Parthemer, Susan Bunner (Brian), and Laura Shape (Chris Raeburn); and her sister Carole Phillips. In addition, she leaves eight grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews.
Barbara was warm, kind, generous and easy-going, quick to laugh, and readily delighted. She was talented as an artist, knitter, gardener, cook, home decorator, seamstress, and a fierce bridge player. She was a life-long reader, getting stacks of books at the library weekly. She was a wife, Mom, and Grandma, as well as an ER Nurse, and she knew and emphasized the things she knew were really important in life. She loved a party and was a great hostess. She was an empathetic listener, always interested, always insightful, and never ever dull.
Due to many time and travel constraints, no services will take place at this time, but arrangements will be announced for a later date. In lieu of flowers, Barbara would have suggested contributions to Second Harvest Food Bank, 2805 Salt Springs Road, Youngstown, OH 44509, or another charity of your choice.
