GLENDALE, Ariz. - Arthur “Art” McCormick passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, at the age of 73, after a courageous battle with cancer. Despite the pain, he remained strong and brave, with his huge heart and sense of humor intact. He passed at his home, surrounded by his family, as he had hoped for.
Art retired in 2009 from the construction industry, where his magnificent wood-working talents came to life. In addition to swinging a hammer, he loved to "swing a club" and enjoyed spending time in the Arizona sunshine. He was an avid bowler, hunter, enjoyed sporting events and could make a rose bush flourish. Above all, he was a family man. He loved traveling with Millie and looked forward to visiting his hometown of North Lima, Ohio, each year.
Art was preceded in death by parents, Glen and Grace McCormick; and sons-in-law, Joe Bates and Charlie Eiserle.
He is survived by loving wife of 54 years, Millie; and daughters, Lisa (David Spring) Bates, Suzanne Huntington and Lori (Tim) Ballard. He was the proud papa to five grandchildren and a great-grandson. In addition to his immediate family, Art leaves behind many special extended family members and friends, whom he spoke of often throughout his battle.
Art was considered a “good man” and will be deeply missed by many. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren, who consider him to be the “best Papa ever.”
A private celebration of life will be announced in the future, as he wished.
