Archie Dominic Schiavo 05/11/1926 to 06/12/2018 Archie Schiavo, resident of Sun City Arizona passed away on June 12, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Archie was born of Louis and Elizabeth Schiavo in Caspian Michigan on May 11, 1926. Archie graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1944. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945 and achieved the rank of Staff Sgt. serving at Los Alamos, New Mexico. He married Margaret Petroff April 16, 1955, and they adopted their daughter Lisa in 1959. Archie earned a certificate in accounting, and after working at the Sherwood Mine, Archie accepted a promotion to the Jackson County Iron Company in 1969 where he served as their Chief Purchasing Agent. After 33 years of service to Inland Steel, Archie retired in 1985, and began traveling to see relatives and friends in Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, and Italy with his wife Margaret. An avid gardener, Archie was able to grow beautiful vegetables, flowers, and trees in both Michigan and Wisconsin. After a visit to Arizona, he successfully grew soap tree yucca and cholla cacti in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Archie was active in bowling leagues and in his community. Archie and Margaret both sang in the St. Cecelia Church Choir where they first met in their early years, and in their later years, were dedicated members of St. Joachim and Anne Parrish in Sun City volunteering with Saint Vincent De Paul. Archie was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, third and fourth degree. In 1967, he was awarded “Knight of the Year” by his council. He will be sadly missed by daughter Lisa M. (Schiavo) Andersen, grandsons Louis Andersen, and Joseph Andersen, sisters, Florence (Homer) Webber, Loretta (Thomas) Shepich, and Gloria (William) Flink, many nieces, nephews, their families. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, his brother Gino, his mother Elizabeth, his father Louis, his brother Remo, his sister Ann, and nephew Gregory. We will remember Archie for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and integrity in everything he did. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joachim & St. Anne Catholic Church, 11625 N. 111th Ave., Sun City, AZ June 22, at 10:00 AM with Rosary at 9:30 AM, and on August 16, at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church, Caspian, MI at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society.
