Alice Shipe

Alice Jean Maloney Shipe, age 97 of Peoria, AZ, died Saturday Jan. 24, 2009 at Hospice of Arizona-Freedom Plaza in Peoria. Born Dec. 16, 1911 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Frank and Anna Maloney of Buffalo, NY., where she married J. Orrin Shipe on Aug. 5, 1939. They raised their five children James, Anne, Thomas, Robert, and Mary Lynn in Madison, WI, where the family shared many good times with friends and neighbors on South Owen Drive. Alice was a devoted Catholic and active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she was involved in the Queen's Guild and Catholic Women's Club. Alice loved to travel and together with her husband traveled the world. They moved to Sun City, AZ in 1973 enjoying sunshine, golf and cruises with their children. Alice had many warm memories of playing bridge and bingo and visiting with friends at Casa del Rio where she resided for the last ten years. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, beloved husband J. Orrin Shipe, daughter Mary Lynn Graves, and son-in-law Norman Pasold. She is survived by her children, James Kathy Shipe of Phoenix, AZ, Anne Pasold of Waunakee, WI, Thomas Shipe of Laveen, AZ, and Robert Cindy Shipe of Oneida, WI, and Son-in-law Greg Graves of Rhinelander, WI and grandchildren, Edward Pasold, DeAnne Pasold and Jennifer Mark Hemberger of Madison, WI, Kelli Kevin Braga of Boston, MA, Greg Shipe of Oneida, WI, and Tim Shipe of Albuquerque, NM. A visitation will be held Friday, January 30, 2009 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City with funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim & St. Anne Catholic Church, 11625 N. 111th Ave., Sun City, AZ.
