Aileen Gordon, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, at the age of 98. Aileen was born November 5, 1925, in Continental, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Joycie (Troyer) Kirkendall. She is survived by her two daughters, Jane (Tom) Denver and Lisa (Franklin) Santagate, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Aileen married Donald Wayne Gordon on April 2, 1949, and they enjoyed 55 years together before his passing in 2004. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Howard and James “Bud” Kirkendall; and two sisters: Marguerite Belleville and Helen Stinson.
During Aileen’s long life, she touched many with her smile, intelligence, wit, and willingness to serve. Her business career spanned decades, from a worker at her local post office to a savings and loan vice president. Even after retirement, Aileen became a water aerobics instructor and served as an officer for the Sun City Aquatics Club until the age of 85. Most importantly, she was a strong believer in Christ from a very young age, and we know we will see her again.
A private graveside service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Good Samaritan Foundation in Aileen’s honor.
