A.F. Carnes

A.F. (Cotton) Carnes passed away February 21, 2011 at the age of 90. He was born on January 2, 1921 in Murchison, Texas. He and his loving wife of 63 years moved to Avondale, Arizona in 1998. He was a horse trainer/jumper in the First Cavalry Division, the last cavalry division to use horses in the United States Army during World War II. He served with honor in the Pacific theatre during WWII and saw action in the Gilbert Islands and the Philippines. He attended Gateway Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Ann, daughters, Nora (Saul) Saldana, Sherry (Midge) Lorash, son, Dwayne (Debbie) Carnes, and adopted son, Jim (Suzie) Moore. He also is survived by eleven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Services have been entrusted to Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, Sun City, AZ. Services will be held at Gateway Baptist Church, 12409 W. Indian School, Avondale, AZ on Saturday 2/26/2011 at 11 am. He will then be interred at National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix. Donations may be made to Premier Hospice.
